Opening hours of the Margravial Opera House in 2023

Due to renovation work, the Margravial Opera House will have to be closed at the following times: 9 January to 15 February 2023 | 17 April to 21 April 2023


New from 22 April: "Margravial Opera House. World Heritage & Museum"

To complement the Margravial Opera House, a new museum with a World Heritage Information Centre is currently being built.

Special programme for the opening of the museum:
  • Saturday, 22 April 2023: Event day with free admission (Opening hours: 12 to 8 pm)

  • Sunday, 23 April to Friday, 7 May 2023:
    Residenztage Bayreuth (Bayreuth Residence Days)

Group reservations are unfortunately not possible from 17 April to 7 May 2023.

Reservations for groups are possible on a limited basis. Please send your requests by e-mail to Gruppenanmeldung-Opernhaus@bsv.bayern.de (Reservations are possible for a maximum of 50 people). We kindly ask you to be there 30 minutes before the reserved time. Otherwise, the reserved tickets will be put on free sale.

No reservation is required for individual visitors and small groups.

 

 

Visiting the Margravial Opera House until 16 April 2023

The auditorium of the Margravial Opera House can be viewed from the stalls; there are fixed admission times (see above). After you have taken a seat in the stalls (two wheelchair places available), a short introductory film will be shown (German with English subtitles).

Afterwards you will learn interesting facts about the Margravial Opera House in a lecture by our staff (April-September 10.30 am and October-March 1 pm in English, otherwise in German) and you can then briefly look around in the stalls area.

Leaflets in Chinese, English, French, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish and Czech are available for foreign-language guests.

Guided tours in the auditorium of the Margravial Opera House

Guided tours for individual guests and groups up to 25 persons

daily at 3 pm in German | daily at 12.30 pm in English

Duration: 45 minutes · Maximum number of participants: 25 persons
Costs: Admission + 3 euros guided tour fee per participant
Registration: spontaneously on site or in advance by phone +49 921 75969-22
Unfortunately, it is not possible to book guided tours outside the specified times!
Registration is recommended due to the limited number of participants.

Guided tours for larger groups are currently being planned.

Visiting dates for groups (without a guided tour)

For groups of 15 or more, it will be possible to register in advance for a specific date (visit without a guided tour) from 8 May 2023. Please send your requests by e-mail to Gruppenanmeldung-Opernhaus@bsv.bayern.de (Reservations are possible for a maximum of 50 people). Visiting the Margravial Opera House from 24 April 2023

The "Margravial Opera House. World Heritage & Museum" can be visited without a guided tour. Experience the magnificent auditorium and immerse yourself in the world of Margravine Wilhelmine's baroque theatre. The museum provides information about the Margravial Opera House World Heritage Site and the theatre and festive culture at the Bayreuth Court. Interactive stations bring baroque theatre life to life.

Use the free museum app or borrow a media guide at the museum ticket office. The app can also be downloaded in the museum via the free Bavarian WLAN. For private devices, we recommend bringing headphones. The app is available in the following languages: German, English, French, Italian, Czech.

Flyers for visiting the Margravial Opera House are available in Chinese, German, English, French, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Russian, Spanish and Czech and can be obtained free of charge at the museum ticket office.
